Sheila is the mother of two daughters who both attended Anchorage Cooperative Preschool. She is originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences from Mount Holyoke College and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Colorado College. She has over fifteen years of teaching experience, including several years working as a preschool teacher at ABC Cooperative Preschool in Fairbanks and as a Kindergarten Teaching Assistant at Chugach Optional Elementary School in Anchorage. She also taught Kindergarten and first grade on the Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico, and fourth grade in Colorado Springs. She has a wealth of experience working with both Waldorf and Open Optional approaches to early childhood education.
